With the advent of Newsvine polls, I thought it would be nice to take a guage of which of the next gen consoles people are actually thinking about buying. I decided to cover all the bases and include Console X & Console Y, as I have read a lot of people saying that a 360 & Wii combo appeals to them.

I'm not one that usually bites at these on-line polls...
But, as this is is the inaugural video game poll (or, at least the first that I've seen), I'll give an "All three!" vote.

Aye, I'm not usually one for polling at all. I was curious however, to see how polling works on the old 'vine here and to see how people are thinking their video games needs will be placated with this volley of consoles.

Personally, I voted 360 and Wii. I'm undecided at this point on wether I want a Wii, but I'm a lot more interested in adding a Wii to my collection (I already have the 360, on top of a regular Xbox and PS2) than adding a PS3. The PS3 looks like nothing but bad news, at this point.

It's ridiculous how well Nintendo has voiced there stance as the 'other' console.

Look how this poll is based. '360 and Wii', 'PS3 and Wii'. Most people don't stand on the Wii as their 'main' or only console. They'll buy a 360 or PS3 and buy a Wii because it's cheap and bound to be worth the money because it's a fun new experience. The more I look at Nintendo and how they're going about this new next-gen of consoles I'm beginning to believe that they actually know what they are doing. It's ridiculous because almost every gamer is probably going to get a Wii and it's mass appeal as a 'family' console for gamers and non-gamers alike will get it sold.

BTW I picked 360 and Wii ;)

Only 24% of the votes so far don't include a Wii. Hopefully, this pre-release attention will translate into post-release sales. If that's the case, Nintendo may very well be the best selling console of this generation.

If that happens, I'd like to see Sega take notice and decide to get back into the console fray.

I think Sega has positioned themselves great as a game development company now. Super Monkey Ball and Sonic on various consoles. I have a feeling they're making a lot of money doing it this way.

Nintendo actually began doing this when they released the Gamecube in 2001. They realized they would never be #1 again. So they decided to go "smart" instead. They heavily promoted fun titles and their own exclusive titles (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin). And they actually designed the Gamecube hardware to be inexpensive to make. Yet it still was a rather powerful system (I've always been quite pleased with the graphics on the Gamecube myself.).

I'm suspecting that Nintendo has again designed the Wii to be cheaper to manufacture than the 360 and PS3. They also seem to have similar thinking in the handheld market. I think my DS is a great system and have many fun games for it! Nintendo does seem poised to make a big comeback!

Looks like the Wii will be a winner for the next Gen.

Why would you choose none, I mean, the Wii is a revolution, hence it's codename.

Here's another vote for none... Not all of us spend money on game consoles.

Why would you visit and then comment in a thread about purchasing consoles then?

So it was a boring day at work, and I was looking through things on my watchlist (ZekeTyler's cool). Not to mention most of my friends are interested in the game consoles, so I read these things to keep up and not be a complete loser (even though I don't play, I can talk)...

I chose Wii. I was going to choose PS3 & Wii, but the Wii is the only console I'm going to for sure buy, likely when it comes out. I am very impressed by what I see so far! And Nintendo always provides fun games.

The PS3 on the other hand is a system I want, but I absolutely _will— not buy it at $600! They will have to lower the price at some point to compete. And if they don't, I just won't buy one. Not looking good for Sony at this point. I think lowering the price in early 2007 is the only hope they have.

BTW, Xbox 360 looks like a great system too ("Gears of War" man!). I'm just going to play on a friend's 360! ;)

To be honest I really can't see the Wii doing that well, even though everyone seems to claim they're going to get one.

            I voted Wii.
